Piano Vintage is a type of restoration dictated from a work philosophy and derived from the experience of the “Steinway Academy” pianoforte technician, Andrea De Biasi, in collaboration with the cabinet maker and Master Carpenter Tommaso Busetto along with the “Steinway Academy” technician Lorenzo Cernaez. ANDREA DE BIASI
Authorized technician and piano turner with Steinway and Sons Academy for the Veneto, Trentino and Alto-Adige areas..

Specialized in the restoration of concert instruments, the substitution of sound boards, replacement of wind chests and the complete installation of new mechanics.

Technical training at Steinway and Sons of Hamburg with a diploma and specialization in Steinway Academy concert technology.

I have been appointed by Steinway Italy (Strinasacchi) for the Steinway and Sons technical assistance.

Technician for the Steinway Society Pianistic Academy.


CURRICULUM VITAE

  • 1989 Matriculation as master carpenter with a grade of 60/60.
  • 1989-1991 Work experience at the organ making laboratory and the construction of antique instruments, cymbals, virginals, spinets and clavichords.
  • 1992 Obtained pianoforte diploma from the Music conservatory of Trent.
  • 1993 Received a diploma as a European Community piano tuner at the Experimental Lyric Theatre of Spoleto.
  • 1995 The opening of my own laboratory as a professional specializing in the restoration of concert instruments and technical service at concerts.
  • 1997 Became a member of A.I.A.R.P. (the Italian association of piano tuners and repairers).
  • 1998 Attended a post graduate course at the Seiller Company (Germany).
  • 2008/2009 Technical training at Steinway and Sons of Hamburg with a diploma and specialization in Steinway Academy concert technology.
  • I have been appointed by Steinway Italy (Strinasacchi) for the Steinway and Sons technical assistance.
  • Technician for the Steinway Society Pianistic Academy.
  • Authorized Steinway technician for the Veneto, Trentino and Alto-Adige areas.

  • I provide the regular maintenance of the pianos in the civic school R. Zandonai of Rovereto (Trent).
  • I provide the technical assistance during the concerts season for the Virtuosi Italiani.
  • I provide the technical assistance for the concerts at the Philharmonic Academy of Verona.
  • I follow the concerts season for the Philharmonic Society of Trent.
  • I follow the concert season and the festivals at the Bibbiena of Mantova.
  • As part of a team I restored three historical instruments of Steinway and Sons (serial number: 5308 straight cord model B year 1861, serial number: 37644 cross cord model B year 1877, serial number: 38596 grand piano model D year 1877). For the Piano Museum, Palazzo Sassatelli of Imola.
  • I restored the historic Pleyel piano used by the Galilean Academy of the University of Padova for their concerts.
  • On the 16th December 2006 the restoration of an Erard historic grand piano (serial number 63916 year 1890) was inaugurated with a concert by the pianist Federico Gianello and a leture by Dr. Giovanni Doria at the Corte Castelletto hall at Nogarole Rocca, Verona.
  • In 2006 I restored the Steinway grand piano for the concervatory Auditorium at Cagliari.
  • In 2007 I restored the Steinway grand piano at the Saint Barnaba Auditorium for the Music Conservatory of Brescia.
  • In 2007 I restored the grand piano at the Trent Philharmonic hall for Steinway Italy and propriety of the Trent Philharmonic Society-inaugurated by Ivo Pogorelich for the opening of the 2008 concert season.
  • In 2008 I resotred along with Lorenzo Cernaez the Steinway grand piano for the musical youth of Trieste at the Miela Theatre.
  • In 2009 I restored the second Steinway grand piano of the Trent Philharmonic hall and propriety of the Philharmonic Society of Trent.
  • In 2103 I was commissioned by the restored Steinway Steinway Italy three for the Conservatory of Perugia (Steinway D, O, A).
  • In 2014 I worked with the firm Passadori of Brescia restored Steinway Grand Auditorium of the Conservatory of Verona.
  • Since 2004, the laboratory Piano Vintage worked in the restoration of Steinway pianos with the dealer Passadori of Brescia.
